Yvonne Jänchen knows what it means to shape projects from the first idea to sustainable implementation. Over twenty years of experience in building international networks and managing complex research and cooperation projects have further shaped her professional and personal competencies.
Born in Zurich in 1965, she began her career with a commercial diploma in French, then moved into textile purchasing with a degree from the Swiss Textile School in Zurich. Her interest in deeper sociological questions led her to the University of Geneva, where she obtained her licence and DEA in sociology. Equal opportunity and social participation became her core themes, which she pursued in national and international research projects and passed on as a lecturer in research methodology and statistics at HES-SO in Geneva.
Her subsequent positions took her through a Geneva-based peace research institute (project director of the Iraq Project, later member of the board of trustees) and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, where she directed the federal equal opportunity programme at universities of applied sciences while simultaneously overseeing Swiss participation in a European research project on gender equality in science. For Movetia, she coordinated international cooperation projects and co-directed the first Swiss Centre of Vocational Excellence "InnoVET", one of the few European research and development projects of this kind in the field of vocational education and training.
With a focus on promoting vocational education and supporting young people along their way, she now brings this broad foundation to bear as an independent entrepreneur.
She lives near Bern, is married and has a son. If you don't find her reading a good book or working in the garden, you might catch her on a road trip in her old convertible.
